Lyman Sleet Franks Jr., 83, widower of Mary Frances Satterley Franks and beloved father, passed away Monday, May 9, 2011 at the V.A. Medical Center. Born in Lexington, he was the son of the late Lyman S. Franks Sr. and Cora Travis Franks. Lyman proudly served his country in three branches of the military with the Navy, Air Force, and Army. He was a former owner of Metro Realty and a plant manager for Schenley Distilleries for 25 years. Lyman was the devoted father of four children including a son, Lyman (Tammie) Franks III, and three daughers, Candy (Roy) Mulberry, Holly (Mike) Bosse, and Becky Franks; five grandchildren, Haven (Chris) Henry, Kent Mulberry, and Megan, Hannah, and Quinton Bosse; a great granddaughter, Alyson Henry, and a great grandson, Tyson Henry. A memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Harrodsburg Road, by Pastor Bob Baldridge with burial to follow at Blue Grass Memorial Gardens with military honors. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
