She was born Jan. 31, 1917 in Weldon, Illinois, the daughter of Arby Ray Smalley and Bessie May Gray Smalley. She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, Richard Doty and Charles Crook and one son, Richard Doty.
Surviving are a brother, James Gray Smalley, grandchildren, Regina Thompson and Cheryl Galbreath, three great-grandchildren and one aunt, Virginia Reeser.
