Rigdon was the second of two sons born to Edward Caswell and Sarah Lula (Wright) Kivett. He married Thelma King and they were the parents of two sons: Dohn Rigdon and Walter Eric.

LEWISVILLE Mr. Rigdon D. Kivett, 93, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2001, at Forsyth Memorial Hospital.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 3, 2001, in Lakeview Memorial Park, Greensboro, by Dr. Albert Winn.

Mr. Kivett was born in Guilford County, to the late Edward C. and Sarah Wright Kivett and lived in Greensboro most of his life. He was a member of Rehobeth United Methodist Church and retired from Duke Power, after 40 years of service. Mr. Kivett was a private pilot and active in the early days of the Greensboro Civil Air Patrol. He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma King Kivett and one brother, Leonard Kivett.

Survivors include two sons, Dohn and wife, Regina Kivett of Lewisville and Walter Eric Kivett of Winston-Salem; four grandchildren, David and wife, Tanya of Lewisville, Karen Cardwell and husband, Mike of Yadkinville, Teresa Kivett of Winston-Salem, and Lynn Petrovia of Baltimore, Md.; and seven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, 2001, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.

The family requests that memorials be made to Cancer Services, 3175 Maplewood Ave., Winston-Salem, N.C. 27103 or Lewisville United Methodist Church, 6290 Shallowford Road, Lewisville, N.C. 27023.
