The newspaper clipping dated April 4, 1911 of the announcement of the marriage of Jesse Harden and Elizabeth Wheaton states that "Mr. Harden has been married six times. . . " It cannot be determined if his 1911 marriage is his sixth marriage, or if the 1911 marriage is his seventh marriage with him having been married six times before. But, the 1911 marriage was not the last marriage for Jesse. On March 3, 1913 in Brown County, Indiana, Jesse was married to Mary E. Robertson Harden. It is believed, but not known for sure, that Mary Elizabeth Wheaton (who was either wife #6 or #7) is the same person as Mary E. Robertson Harden and if they are one and the same person, then it appears that Jesse was divorced from Mary as his wife #6 (or #7) and as then remarried to Mary as his wife #7 (or #8).

Although Jesse was married either 7 or 8 times, a record was found for only 5 of those marriages, as follows:

Married, 1st, Matilda Greenlee on September 16, 1877 in Brown County, Indiana.

Married, 2nd, Sarah Catharine Sturgeon on July 4, 1879 in Brown County, Indiana.

Married, 3rd, Vessie Hurley on November 2, 1903 in Brown County, Indiana.

Married, 4th, Mary Elizabeth Wheaton on July 22, 1911 in Brown County, Indiana.

Married, 5th, Mary E. Robertson Harden on March 3, 1913 in Brown County, Indiana.

There is a birth record in the Index to Birth Records, Brown County 1882-2000 (2006) reporting that Jesse was the father of a child born on March 16, 1904 in Brown County, Indiana. The birth record does not list a mother and no gender is listed for the child. The birth record also contains a notation to "see Dr. Ralphy". Jesse had married Vessie Hurley on November 2, 1903 and it is believed to be likely, but not known for sure, that Vessie is probably the mother of such child.
