The young man died of a gunshot wound to the head which the Montrose Sheriff's Office said was self-inflicted. He was found suffering from the wound Tuesday morning on his family's property.
He was born May 11, 1959, at Delta, where he spent his childhood. He was a sophomore at Olathe High School, where he was a member of the track team, band and chorus.
Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Boyer, of Olathe; four brothers, William, Jeffrey, Scott and James, all at home; grandparents Mr. and Mrs W. C. Boyer of Olathe; and grandmother Mrs. Bertha Harvey of Delta.
