Kenneth J. Galm was born June 11, 1912 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Lottie I. (Strassner) Galm and John Michael Galm. He had one sister, Charlotte Ann McClenny (1922-2011). Kenneth was a 1929 graduate of Arsenal Technical High School and went on to the University of Illinois from which he earned a BS in Commerce (and a life-long love of the Fighting Illini). On July 9, 1936 he married Marie Roach with whom he shared his life until her death in 1989.

Kenneth was a very social and out-going man known for his sense of humor and generosity. He began his career working as an agent for Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance from 1933-1938. He then served as a manufacturer's representative from 1938 until he started his own company in 1943. He subsequently served as President of the Kenneth J. Galm Co., Inc. (a distributor of tools and machinery in Indianapolis) from 1943 until his retirement in 1982. Kenneth lived in Indianpolis (1912-1969), Nashville (1969-1999) and Bloomington (1999-2012).

Kenneth was an active member of many organizations, in many of which he achieved over 50 years of membership including the Delta Kappa Epsilon Fraternity, The University of Illinois Alumni Association, The Indianapolis Sales Executive Council, The Downtown Optimist Club (past president), The Junto Society of Indianapolis, The Nashville Indiana Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, The Murat Shrine Order of the Jesters, The Brown County Lions' Club, and the Brown County Art Gallery Foundation. He was a member of the Nashville United Methodist Church.

Kenneth is survived by his two sons: John Kenneth (Aline) Galm of Boulder, Colorado and Robert Woods (Tamra) Galm of Bloomington, Indiana. He is survived by his five grandsons: Kevin Neal (Ellen) Galm of Longmont, Colorado, Eric Andrew (Amy) Galm of West Hartford, Connecticut, Brian Woods Galm of Bloomington, Indiana, Christopher Edwards (Katherine) Galm of Alexandria, Virginia, and Patrick McCready (Heather) Galm of Ellettsville, Indiana, and nine great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a cousin, Dottie Caldwell; a niece, Sharon McClenny Thomas; a nephew, Timothy McClenny; three great-nieces, and a great-nephew.

Friends and family will gather on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Leppert Mortuary, Nora Chapel for visitation, with a funeral service at 1:00 p.m., with the Reverend Fred Haywood presiding. A brief interment ceremony will follow in the Mausoleum at Crown Hill Cemetery.
