obituary:

Mrs. Jennie May Kinler, 82, a long time resident of the Staples community, passed away at the Staples Municipal Hospital Tuesday evening, December 27 (1966). Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, December 31, at the Faith Lutheran Church, with the Reverend Eugene Floistad officiating. Interment will be in the Evergreen Hill Cemetery. Jennie Mae Nelson was born the daughter of Ole and Rebecca Nelson on September 18, 1884 at Staples. She grew to womanhood in this community and was then united in marriage to Robert H. Kinler in June of 1900 at Pine River. Following their marriage, they resided in Pine River for a number of years and then moved back to her hometown of Staples. Her husband preceded her in death. Survivors include three sons, Robert of Minneapolis, William of Mesa, Arizona, and Jack of Vancouver, Washington; eight daughters, Mrs. Jean Surbaugh of Fort Steilacoom, Washington, Mrs. Ellen LaRose of Washougal, Washington, Mrs. Ruth Hagen of Renton, Washington, Mrs. Mae Larson of Vancouver, Washington, Mrs. Rachel Scheibe of Pine River, Mrs. Kathryn Floryanski of Bridgeport, Connecticut, Margaret Kinler of Olympia, Washington, and Mrs. Bette Walen of Red Wing; 35 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, Jack Nelson of Minneapolis. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Kenneth.
