Mrs. Mourning Russell died at the home of her son, Christopher M. Russell in Gallatin Twp. Tuesday night at the advanced age of 89. She came to Clay Co. in 1822. Her maiden name was Martin and she was born in Clark Co., KY in Feb 1801. Married in Saline Co., MO in 1819 to Andrew Russell, who served in the war of 1812, for which services she was drawing a pension from the government. Fourteen children were born to them, six of whom are living, as follows:
Christopher M. Russell, Mrs. Geo. Hughes, of this city; Mrs. James Corn of Nebraska, and William, Black and Mrs. Eli Murray of Bates Co. She was buried in the family burying ground.
