Martin Frederick Kauffelt, was born March 28, 1900 on a farm east of Minden, the son of August and Bertha Kauffelt.
Soon after his birth, he was baptized at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Minden and later affirmed his Christian faith through the through the rite of confirmation.
On November 24, 1926 he was united in marriage to Isabelle Nelsen at the St. Paul Lutheran Church. This union was blessed with three daughters: Gloria, Joanne, and Patricia.
Martin, known to his family and friends as "Joe", farmed northwest of Minden. In 1972 he left the farm and moved into Minden where he has resided until the time of his death.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Isabelle, who died in 1972. he is survived by his three daughters, Mrs. Donald (Gloria) Vannier, of Gothenburg, Mrs. Ralph (Joanne) Lammers, of Cozad, and Mrs. Gene (Patricia) Osterbuhr, of Minden. Also six grandchildren and three great grandchildren; a brother, Carl; and two sisters, Mrs. Martha Sinsel of Minden and Mrs. Ester Fellows, Hastings.
Martin died on Wednesday afternoon, February 23, having attained the age of 76 years and 11 months. Funeral services were held at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Minden on Saturday afternoon, Feb 26, with Pastor Don Becker officiating.
