POQUOSON - Deanna Elaine Hunt, a native and lifelong resident of Poquoson, passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2011.
She was a member of Emmaus Baptist Church in Poquoson. She retired after 30 years of Federal Civil Service with the U.S. Army at Fort Monroe and the U.S. Air Force at Langley AFB, where she received numerous awards for her outstanding performance. Deanna was an avid NY Yankees and Virginia Tech fan.
She was the oldest of three children born to Mary Lorene Forrest Hunt and the late Buford R. Hunt on Nov. 20, 1943. She loved and enjoyed her family, aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins, and many friends.
She is survived by her mother, Mary Lorene Forrest Hunt; her brother, Dwight Hunt and wife, Cathy; her sister, Susan Shifflett and husband, David; four nieces and nephews, Kimberly Hoback and husband, Mark, Heather Hogge and husband, Daniel, Graham Hunt and fiancEe, Heather Arms, and Todd Hunt; five great-nieces and great-nephews, Adam Hogge, Owen Hogge, Isla Hogge, Eden Hoback, and Aaron Hoback; and numerous aunts, uncles, family friends and her church family. She was lovingly known as "Nana" to her four nieces & nephews and five great-nieces and great-nephews.
