SEMI-WEEKLY INTERIOR JOURNAL, STANFORD, KY., FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 9, 1887
On the 7th, at the residence of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Buchanan, Mr. John A. Haldeman and Miss Annie Buchanan were united in wedlock's holy bonds, by Rev. A. S. Moffett. The bride was attired in a handsome blue cloth traveling dress, with hat to match and only the relatives and very intimate friends of the contracting parties were present.
Louisville is to be their home.
Our Crab Orchard correspondence contains a short notice of the marriage of our friend, John A. Haldeman, business manager of the Louisville Times, to Miss Annie Buchanan, who is as charming of person as she is captivating and accomplished. The social prominence of the contracting parties made the event the most notable and fashionable that has occurred in this section for a long time, and it was indeed a most elegant affair in every particular. The house was handsomely decorated, the excellent repast was prepared by a distinguished caterer in Louisville and everything was in the most elaborate style. Besides the relatives of the bride, who live in this section, there were present Mr. and Mrs. W. N. Haldeman, Will B. Haldeman and wife, Misses Belle Haldeman, of Louisville, and Mattie and Jennie Robb, of Woodford. The bridal presents were very numerous and costly and included a handsome set of furniture from the Courier Journal, an elegant present from the Times, &c. A cablegram of congratulations from the bride's relatives in Scotland and numerous gifts from them were also shown. The bridal tour will include a visit to relatives in Vermont and it will be October 1 before the couple returns to their Louisville home. John is the cleverest and most whole souled of fellows and a fine business man withal, while the woman he has won is a model of feminine loveliness and the good wishes of legions of friends will ever attend them.
