Rites for Duke Branstetter to Be Held Sunday
Died March 17, 1950
Funeral services for Duke Branstetter, who died at 7:10 p.m. Friday at his home, 422 Bell Street, will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Myers Chapel. (March 20, 1950). The Rev. Owen Post will conduct the service and burial will be in West Salem cemetery.
Mr. Branstetter came to a farm near West Salem in April 1912 and lived in that vicinity until two and a half years ago. He was born April 4, 1862 in Pike County, MO., the son of Peter and Ellen (Glenn) Branstetter. In 1896 he was married to Rhoda Bridges in Brandsville, Mo., who proceded him in death.
Surviving are two daughters, Cordelia Sullivan and Pansy Johnson of Mt Vernon, a son, Simon Branstetter of Effingham, two sisters, Lucretia Pickens of Camden, Mo., and Martha Bickford of Cushing, Okla. Eight grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren also survive.
The body will remain at Myers chapel where friends may call after 4pm today.

Duke's first wife was Mahala B. Baty. They were married Dec 26, 1885 in Phelps County, Missouri. Mahala was the daughter of George & Paulina Judd Baty. Duke and Mahala were the parents of Cordelia, Christina and Simon Branstetter.
