She married Alexander Brandon 1883-1887. No record has been found.

Four of their children were born in Ohio, 3 in West Virginia.

The 1900 census, family living in Miflin, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. There are 7 children residing with them however, Annie age 17, and Blaine age 16, might have been children with Alex's first possible wife Nancy J. Sprague.* (There was also a son born in 1880, Samuel Newton Brandon) Alex is a foreman in steel mill.

By 1910, Alice is back in West Virginia, and by 1920, she is living in Washington DC with her married son James G. Blaine Brandon & wife, and her son William J. B.

By 1930, she resided in Triadelphia, Wheeling, Ohio County, WV with her married daughter Estella Dow & family, before going to the hospital where she spent the last 5 years of her life.

Alice died in the State Hospital in Weston at the age of 84 of senility and simple deterioration.


Twin daughter Minnie Virginia (1887-1968) married William H. Wheatley, April 16, 1903, Steubenville, Jefferson, Ohio, they had daughter Hazel Gregory Wheatley, b March 28, 1904 Washington, Pennsylvania. Minnie married Walter Leslie Lank, April 20 1918, Moundsville, Marshall WV. He was born in 1887 Pennsylvania. Hazel married Robert Ray Knowlton, 1923, Belmont, OH. She died October 16, 1976, Lee, Florida.

(*there is a marriage license record for Alexander Brandon and Nancy J. "Spriggs", granted March 29, 1879 however there is NO return with marriage record.
Nancy Spriggs is also found as Nancy Sprague, daughter of Benjamin F. (Franklin B. Sprague/Frank Spriggs) Sprague and Mary RIGGS. There is a birth record for a Samuel N. Sprague to Nancy Sprague, in 1880. The birth date agrees with Samuel Newton BRANDON as his name appears on future records.
On most records Nancy Sprague's birth year is about 1855 however her death record gives birth year of 1861, Virginia, and she died 1918 Chicago, Cook, Illinois. On Samuel Newton Brandon's death record 1946 he gives mother as Nancy Sprague with no father's name.)

James Gillispie Blaine Brandon, born Indiana, (1885- May 21, 1943 Fulton Co, Georgia), married Annie Heisel/Hizel, born in Germany, in 1907, Ohio County WV and Elizabeth H. Weatherall in 1913. 1918, World War I Draft Registration occup helper at Navy Yards, Washington DC. In 1940, living with his parents in Belmont, OH. Living in Florida in 1945. Unknown burial location.

Anna/Annie (1883-) married Benjamin Elias Day,1903, Washington County, Pennsylavnia.

Gertrude 'Gertie' born October 9, 1893, Belmont County OH.
