By 1730, Archibald owned a tract of land of more than 800 acres in Cumberland Valley, Pennsylvania, where he established a farm and built a grist mill. He was a Presbyterian and one of the organizers of the First Presbyterian Church at Carlisle.
He and Jean were the parents of nine children: John, Richard, James, Archibald, Daniel, Mary, Jean, David and Andrew.
Archibald died 1768 in West Pennsboro Township, Cumberland, PA and his remains were buried at Meeting House Springs Cemetery. His will was dated 7th September, 1768 and probated 20 November 1768, so he died at some time between these two dates.
