John Jacob Zeigler left his wife & 4 children sometime in the late 30's never to be heard from again. Mildred & eldest daughter, Gwen, helped him pack for a "business" trip. Never returned. Left my grandmother to raise the 4 children alone. My mom learned very early on to cook and clean as my grandmother suffered greatly when her own mother passed away in 1940. All her grandchildren and sons/daughter-in-law called her MoMo.

Mildred E. Crumlich Zeigler, 95, of Newberry Twp., died Monday in Seidel Hospital, Mechanicsburg. She had been a clerk for Shermans Variety Store, Harrisburg, and attended the Redland Senior Center and Messiah Daycare. Surviving are two daughters, Erdean and Leona; 11 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in Beaver-Urich Funeral Home, Lewisberry. Burial will be in Dillsburg Cemetery. Viewing will be from 1 to 1: 45 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Helen O. Krause Animal Foundation, PO Box 311, Mechanicsburg 17055.
