William was the son of Thomas Hurt Sr. and Martha Winstone. He married Margaret Glover (?) (b. 1635 in King Wm. Co., VA). They had children:

Isabella (b. 26 Apr 1654)
John (b. 1655)
William Jr. (b. 1657)

William was among 25 immigrants brought to Virginia (landing in Charles City County, VA) by Stephen Hamblin in October 1650. William Hurt received a grant of 213 acres of land in New Kent County, VA on 18 Feb 1673 (or 1674), and acquired an additional grant of 298 acres in Pamunkey Neck, then a part of King and Queen County, VA, but after 1702, a part of King William County.
