Mr. Sligh, widower of his first wife, Aliher Ingram Sligh, died Tuesday, April 10, 2012. Born June 14, 1921, in Richland County, SC, he was a son of the late James D. and Nannie Bell Raines Sligh.
The family will receive friends Friday from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. at the church. He was a graduate of Bliss Electrical School in Washington, DC. He trained and served in the Army Air Force during WW II. He also worked as a foreman in the electric shop of Sonoco Products Company and served as a volunteer fireman for over 40 years. He was an avid fisherman, carpenter, craftsman and, above all, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather and uncle.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth S. Sligh of Sweetwater, TN; son and daughter-in-law, Cecil Eugene (Jane Andrews) Sligh Jr. of Hartsville, SC; daughters and sons-in-law, Julie S. (Tom) Nelson of Greensboro, NC, Jan S. (Mark) Denton of Mocksville, NC; grandchildren and spouse, Jonathan (Sarah Senesi) Sligh of Huntersville, NC, Brandon Sligh of Savannah, GA, Maria Denton of Wilmington, NC, Eddie Nelson of Greensboro, NC, Johanna N. Combest of Kernersville, NC.
