A funeral Mass for Darrell E. West, 80, will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, at St. Catherine of Siena Church, West Dundee.
Born Feb. 24, 1920, the son of Elmer and Retta (nee Benefield) West, he died Saturday, April 15, 2000, at his home. Burial will be in McHenry County Memorial Park, Woodstock.
A 37 year resident of the Carpentersville/Dundee area, Mr. West was a former many year employee of Flexonics and Stewart-Warner and former president of the Flexonics Credit Union. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the Navy, a member of St. Catherine of Siena Church, a former member of the Village of West Dundee Zoning Board, former treasurer of the West Dundee Fire Department, and former Carpentersville Village Trustee. He was also formerly active in the Tri-Cities Little League and a former Little League coach.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Dorothy J. (nee Robinson); son, Greg (Tina) of Cary; daughters, Pat (Jay) Jimboy of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Pamela (Chandler) Swan of Elgin, Cathy West of Brooklyn, New York, Nancy (Henry) Carpenter of Salinas, California, Mary (Don Kreinenbrink) Chausse of Elgin, Susan (John) Johnson of London, England, and Barbara (Rob) Carter of Pensacola, Florida; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister, Thelma (Dick) Chamberlain of Galesburg, Ill.; and brother, George West of Cape Girardo, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today, at the Miller Funeral Home, 504 W. Main St., West Dundee and from 9 a.m. until the time of the Mass at 10 a.m. Tuesday, at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Catherine of Siena Church Beacon Fund.
