He was the father of the current owner of WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) Vince McMahon. He is the son of boxing, wrestling, and concert promoter Jess McMahon. He promoted his first wrestling card in 1935. Eventually, he formed the World Wide Wrestling Federation (WWWF) with fellow northeast promoter Willie Gillenzberg. They had their first champion, "Nature Boy" Buddy Rogers, recognized. He was the one who named Terry Bollea as the legendary Hulk Hogan. He found Capitol Wrestling Corporation. Capitol dominated professional wrestling in the Northeastern United States during the mid-20th century, when the sport was divided into strictly regional enterprises. In 1982, Vince, Jr. bought Capitol Wrestling from his father and began an expansion process that would fundamentally change professional wrestling. Sadly, Vince, Sr. died of cancer on May 27, 1984 in New York City. Over twelve years after his death, Vince, Sr. was inducted into the WWF/E Hall of Fame on November 16th, 1996. (bio by: Adam J.)
