Singer, Entertainer. He was Variety's number-one singing star of the 1950s in Britain. His first radio broadcast was in 1927 and his recording career began in 1933 and ended in 1972. Donald Peers toured the variety theatres and at his peak in 1949 performed his one-man show to an audience of 8,500 at the Royal Albert Hall. At his peak he was earning £15,000 per week. He had a string of hits, his most famous song and signature tune being "In a Shady Nook, By a Babbling Brook". (bio by: MMAS)
