A daughter of John William and Daisy Mae (Diehl) Fickes and wife of G. Percy Batzel married May 14, 1927, aged 95.


She was survived by two daughters, Patricia L. Ford of Wells Tannery, and Betty L. Graffious of Baltimore, MD; also son-in-law William Figard of Six Mile Run; 14 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 21 great-great grandchildren and one sister, Freda (Glenn) Koontz of Martinsburg.

She was preceded in death by a daughter M. Lorraine Figard and three grandsons: Stanley Figard, William Figard, Jr. and Dennis Graffious.

She was also precedeceased by three brothers and a sister: William Fickes, Edward Fickes, Bernard Fickes and Mabel Manspeaker.


Mrs. Batzel was a member of Bethel Church of the Brethren, Tatesville. She was employed by Lion Manufacturing in Everett for many years. She was also a homemaker who enjoyed gardening and canning, sewing and caring for her family. She and her husband enjoyed spending their winters in Ft. Myers, Florida.


The funeral service was held in the Bethel Church of the Brethren with Rev. George Yocum officiating. Burial was in the adjoining cemetery under the direction of the Dalla Valle Funeral Service of Everett.
