Mrs. Edithe Lazette Brigance was born February 4, 1903 at Troy, Tenn., and died March 23, 1978 at River Oaks Nursing Home in Steele.
Mrs. Brigance was the daughter of the late R.A. White and Ida Travis White.
"Miss Edithe" held a longer membership record in the Cooter United Methodist Church than any other member. She had been a reporter for the Steele Enterprise since May 1961.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 25, 1978, at 2:00 at the United Methodist Church in Cooter. Rev. Pete Soens officiated.
She leaves the following, all cousins:
Velma Jane Campbell of Cooter; Thelbert Travis of Caruthersville; Carl Travis of Jackson, Mich.; Joe Travis of Portsmouth, Va.; Frank Travis of Portsmouth, Va.; Calvin Travis of Memphis; G.G. Travis of Phoenix, Ariz.; Joe Travis of LaPuente, Calif.; Bowen Travis of Steele, and Doyne Travis of Atlanta, Gla.
Burial was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery at Steele, with John W. German Funeral Home of Steele in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were Tommy Campbell, Johnny Campbell, Phil McFall, Jimmy Travis, Dan Travis, and John Travis.
