John Robert Martin, 57 years of age, died at his home here, 1308 Vest avenue, Friday night at 10:30 o'clock following a long illness. Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Floyd V. Brower at the Methodist church Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Burial was in Maple Cemetery.
Mr. Martin was born in Pemiscot county, August 29, 1883, and had lived in this community all of his life. He is survived by a son, Howard; and a half-brother, Sterling Martin, all of this city. His wife, Mrs. Mabel Elizabeth Martin preceded him in death some years ago.
Martin conducted a small grocery store on Vest avenue for several years.
