A copy of Jewett P. Ellis obituary was found at the Montgomery County Historical Society in Montgomery City, Missouri but it was unsourced. It was probably published in the Montgomery Standard newspaper as follow: "Jewett P. Ellis of Hermann, Missouri, died April 21, 1990 in the home at the age of 75.
Mr. Ellis was born September 17, 1914, in lower Montgomery county, the son of Elsie Volk Ellis and Clarence Ellis. March 23, 1950 in Germany he was married to Vera Schneglsberg, who survives at the home.
He is survived by five children, Ursala Kramer of Germany; Renate Ellis, St. Charles; Jewett Ellis, Jr., O'Fallon; Karin Ellis, St. Peters, and Margaret Stiegman of Big Spring; one sister Mrs. Merle Hess of Troy and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Vear and Carlyle Ellis and three sisters, Ethel Dollman, Ester Mathis and Blanche Ellis.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 24, 1990 at 2 pm at the Toedtmann-Grosse Funeral Home in Hermann, Missouri with the Rev. Ray Freet officiating. Burial was in the Liberty Baptist Cemetery, Big Spring.
Mr. Ellis was in the U.S. Army serving in World War II, he was a member of the Hermann VFW Post. Jewett Ellis was an industrial painter, Binkley Office Equipment Mfg."
