Dolores "Dee" J. Stever, age 75 of Greenville, formerly of Vandalia, passed away at 4:01 a.m. Saturday, April 7, 2012 at St. Luke's Hospital, Chesterfield, Missouri.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday at The Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Greenville with Rev. Dr. Jeffery Nehrt officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Auburn Cemetery. Visitation will be held 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. Memorials may be made to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church or Bond County Hospice.

Dolores, the daughter of Jefferson Davis Lilly and Mary Hazel Long Lilly Conner, was born on June 8, 1936 at Wright's Corner, Loudon Township, North of St. Elmo, Illinois in Fayette County. She grew up and attended schools in Mulberry Grove and graduated from the Vandalia High School. Dolores and Wilbert "Wib" Meyer were married on November 10, 1955. Wib passed away October 17, 1987. Dee and James O. Stever were united in marriage on November 5, 1995 at the old Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Greenville by Rev. Dr. Jeffery Nehrt. They have enjoyed over 16 years together. Dee had a deep passion for children, early childhood education and demonstrated a commitment to children with special needs. She worked for Fayette County School System, FAYCO, the ARC and was sole proprietor of The Diet Center in Greenville.

Mrs. Stever was community service oriented, including serving as a hospice volunteer and dedicated to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. She was a loving and giving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.

She is survived by her husband James O. Stever, son Michael R. Meyer and his wife Cheryle of Vandalia, IL, daughters Mary J. Adams of Richmond, VA, Martha K. Kimber of Richmond, VA, as well as children Jennifer (Brian) McGill of New Castle, CO, and James R. "JR" (Alison) Stever of Highland, IL. She is also survived by her brothers Oren (Ann) Lilly of Cumberland Furnace, TN, William "Bill" Lilly of Crestview, FL, sisters Lora (Richard) Brown of Eugene, OR, Betty (Lonnie) Ammann of MO, Donna (Michael) Scott of Greenville and Tommy Elam of TN. Dee was the loving grandmother of 14 and great-grandmother of 8.

Mrs. Stever is preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Wib Meyer, sister-in-law Carol Gilbert Lilly, and a son-in-law Terry Kimber.

Dee was a member of Bond County Hospice and her Church, the Our Redeemer Lutheran Church of Greenville.


Dee was reinterred aside her first husband, Wib Meyer, on April 18, 2015 at South Hill Cemetery in Vandalia, Fayette County, Illinois.
