A native of North Bay, Ontario, DeMarco played for teams in the NHL, NOHA, EHL, IAHL, AHL, OHAB, and the EAHL hockey leagues. At 6'00, and 160lbs, 'Ab' DeMarco played the position of Center for the North Bay T & NO from 1933 to 1934, North Bay Trappers from 1934 to 1935, 1952 to 1959, Barrie Colts from 1935 to 1936, Falconbridge Falcons from 1936 to 1937, Baltimore Orioles from 1937 to 1938, Chicago Blackhawks from 1938 to 1940, Providence Reds from 1939 to 1940, 1941 to 1943, Toronto Maple Leafs from 1942 to 1943, Boston Bruins from 1942 to 1944, New York Rangers from 1943 to 1947, Cleveland Barons from 1947 to 1949, Washington Lions from 1948 to 1949, and the Buffalo Bisons from 1948 to 1952. He was the recipient of the Les Cunningham Award for 1950 to 1951, and the John B. Sollenberger Trophy for 1950 to 1951. At the age of 41 DeMarco retired from hockey, becoming a prominent businessman in retail. He also coached in Paisley, Scotland, from 1957 to 1958. DeMarco passed away in North Bay at the age of 73, from a heart attack in May 1989. (bio by: K)
