Birth: 1860
Manchester
Lancashire, England
Death: Jul. 17, 1949
District Of Columbia, USA

His life story was portrayed in the July 20th, 1949 edition of the Wash. Post. Among the highlights of his life, the story said he was an athlete, an 'Indian fighter', and a retired member of the D.C. police Dept. (MPDC). He came from England at some point and was looking for some 'excitement' and he apparently found it out west in the U.S. He had joined the U.S. Calvary and supposedly met face-to-face with Sitting Bull and Rain-in-the-face, among other Native American chiefs. According to some of his offspring, he also became the boxing champion of the U.S. Army - and was undefeated. When he joined the police force, he earned commendations for saving a drowning victim from the frozen Potomac River and for capturing a goon that shot some folks, including a cop. He was also a star player on the MPDC baseball team. When nearly 60 years old, he beat everyone on the force the in the 50 yard dash. His wife Ann died in 1934. Survivors included 2 sons and 2 daughters, 6 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild.
