1937 - GRIDLEY MAN DIES
Floyd H. Cokeley, 28, died early Saturday morning, Oct. 16, at the home of
his father, Cyrus Cokeley, at Gridley. Mr. Cokeley had suffered with heart
trouble most of his life and went to California some time ago whre he was
better for a time and then became worse. He and his wife and child recently
returned to Gridley. He is survived by his father, two brothers and three
sisters.

Funeral Services Held for Floyd H. Cokeley
Funeral services for Floyd Cokeley were held Monday afternoon from the
Gridley Christian church in charge of the pastor, Rev. Joe E. Dodson. A
quartet composed of Mms. R. R. Luthi, Mrs. Joe E. Dodson and Arthur Stukey
sang "Safe in the Arms of Jesus," "Ivory Palaces," and "God Will Take Care
of You". Miss Marjorie Hunt played the piano. Pallbearers were Lloyd
Shook, Ival Shook, Ralph Shook, Frank Shook, Theordore Reed and Lawrence
Dewey. Interment was in the Gridley cemetery.
Floyd Homer Cokeley, youngest son of Cyrus and Katie Bell Cokeley, was born
in Gridley, Kansas March 18, 1909, and died at the home of his father in
Gridley on October 16, 1937, at the age of twenty-eight years, six months
and twenty-eight days.
On January 28, 1933, he was united in marriage to Zenobia Bouse of Halls
Summitt, Kansas. To this union one daughter, Katherine Florine, was born.
He is survived by his wife, the three month old daughter, his father, three
sisters: Mrs. Ray Reed, Gridley; Mrs. Homer Reed, Gridley; Mrs. Lou Wagler,
Kenbro; two brothers: Alva Cokeley and Clarence Cokeley, of Gridley, besides
several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. His mother preceded him
in death seven years ago.
He was afflicted with heart trouble all his life and was never very strong.
He, with his wife and baby, returned to Gridley just one week before his
death. Previous to their return they resided in California for the past
three years.
