She was born August 15, 1931 in Pender County and was the daughter of the late Tim and Molly Caison Gurganious. She was also predeceased by her husband, Homer Ray English.
Avie was a member of Wallace Pentecostal Holiness Church where she taught Sunday school, worked diligently in Vacation Bible Schools and was a great prayer warrior. Being a talented artist, writer and crafter, Avie enriched the community in which she lived. Generously she shared with others her love, talents, knowledge, humor and abilities. She will be greatly missed, but more importantly heaven has gained a faithful new angel on this day.
Surviving are her loving son, Michael Ray English of Wallace; sisters, Doris Murray of Wallace, Nancy Locklear and husband, Eartle of Castle Hayne; brother, Earl Gurganious and wife, Mildred of Wallace and numerous nieces, nephews and special friends that loved and helped Avie through her illness.
Funeral service will be 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 18, 2007 at Wallace Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Wayne Keene officiating.
Burial will follow in Cavenaugh Cemetery.
Casketbearers will be Elmer Hunt, Billy Strickland, Tim Whaley, Milton Wells, Ethan Carter, and Richard Gurganious.
Honorary casketbearer will be Donnie Mobley.
