FORT STOCKTON- A celebration of life memorial service for Walton W. Harral, 99, of Lubbock will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 6, 2012 in the First United Methodist Church in Fort Stockton, Texas.
Mr. Harral died Monday April 2, 2012 in Lubbock. He was born November 22, 1912 in Stanton, Texas to Thomas Edward and Hellon Claunch Harral. He has been a Lubbock resident since 2008 moving here from Ruidoso, N.M. where he lived since his retirement in 1984. Walton was a longtime sheep and cattle rancher in Pecos, Upton and Culberson counties. Walton was a member of the Grand Court Chapel in Lubbock, First Presbyterian Church and cowboy Church in Ruidoso, and the First Christian Church in Ft. Stockton. He was awarded Texas Sheep man of the Year, as well as serving on the Rankin school board for over 25 years. He was a 4 H leader and contributor for many years. He was a good Christian father that loved the Lord and his children. He married Estelle Swofford October 23, 1933 in Ft. Worth. She preceded him in death in October 1970. To this marriage they had four daughters, Amaryallis Culbertson (deceased), Barbara (Hank) Elliott of Marathon, Linda Chapman of Lubbock, Virginia (Franklin) Farrow of Midland; numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great grandchildren. He married Louise Stewart in 1972, and she died in January 2000. Louise is survived by her children, Glenn, Sam and Scott Stewart, and Sarah Corse. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to a favorite charity . Lubbock services are under the direction of Rix Funeral Directors.
