Singer. Called the "Queen of Choro" she was one of her country's most popular vocalists over two generations and shall be remembered for supplying the words for a predominantly instrumental genre of music. Born Ademilde Fonseca Delfino in Sao Goncalo do Aramante, little is recorded of her early years but she apparently took to show business early as she was performing professionally in Rio de Janeiro by 1941. Ademilde had her first hit in 1942 with Zequinha de Abreu's "Tici Tico no Fuba"; she quickly became a regular on radio and on the nightclub scene while releasing a steady string of records and with time was frequently seen on television. She was to have another hit in 1950 with "Brasileirinho" and in 1958 cut her first full-length album, "A la Miranda". Ademilde remained an active performer until in her 80s, her final recordings being her contributions to 2001's "Cafe Brasil". At her death from the effects of advanced age much of her legacy remained in print. (bio by: Bob Hufford)
