Jackie was born on September 23, 1935 in Huttig, Arkansas, to parents, J.B. DeShazo and Nina Smith DeShazo.
He married Wanda Tharp DeShazo in Clovis, New Mexico on November 17, 1955. He attended Texas Tech University. Jackie was active in Jones Prairie Baptist Church in Leggett, serving as deacon and song leader.
He is preceded in death by his parents, J.B. and Nina DeShazo and son, David DeShazo.
Jackie is survived by his wife of fifty-six years, Wanda Tharp DeShazo of Leggett; three daughters and sons-in-law, Janice and Robert Koether of Leggett, Sherry and Dr. Craig Reese of Livingston, and Diana and Michael Kelm of Livingston; six grandsons, Albert Koether, Corey Koether, Karl Koether, Zachary Willson, Craig Reese, Jr. and Kyle Kelm; one granddaughter, Kallie Kelm; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jimmy "Babe" DeShazo, Jerry and Teresa Tharp, Tommy and Sue Smith; mother-in-law, Virginia Tharp; numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
