VARNER, Hazel C., 93, of Weirton, W.Va., died Sunday, February 18, 2007, in the Weirton Geriatric Center.

She was born on August 5, 1913, in Doddridge County, W.Va., the daughter of the late Curtis and Lula Thompson Stickel.

Hazel was also preceded in death by her husband, Arby Varner on November 28, 1960; a son, Donald Varner on July 7, 1977; an infant daughter, Judy Diane Varner; a brother, Virgil Stickel, and a sister. Opal Marks

Hazel retired from Weirton Steel, after 17 years, where she cleaned and maintained the offices. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Weirton.

She is survived by her son, Vernon Duane Varner and his wife, Millie, of Easley, S.C.; her daughter, Dorothy J. Blankenship of Weirton; her daughter-in-law, Mary Lou Varner Wright of Weirton; 13 grandchildren, Donald and Barbara Varner, Laura and Robert Ryan, Robert and Wendy Varner, Janet and Mike Fankhouser, Barbara and Terry Bennett, Linda and Marc DeAngelo, Glenda and Robert Harland, Cynthia and Kevin Miller, Keith and Cindy Varner, Mark and Missie Varner, Brian and Judy Varner and Kimberly Raiden; twenty nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Interment at the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
