Irving Berlin
Birth: May 11, 1888
Death: Sep. 22, 1989

Composer. While other composers could lay claim to symbolize American popular music, it is likely that most Americans would think first of Irving Berlin. Coming from very humble beginnings, he penned some of the greatest and most memorable songs in American history. From "Alexander's Ragtime Band" to "God Bless America" to "White Christmas," he left a legacy of music.
