William Harley was always known as Harley, He was born in Farlinville, Linn County Kansas, You can't find Farlinville on the map of Kansas any more, because it no longer exists. Harley's dad, was born Walter Christopher Hill and was adapted by William and Judith (Robbins) Howery after losing his Mother when he was vary young, so the bloodline goes with the Hill family. The same thing happened to Harley. He lost his mother Eudora Ellen (Hart) Howery, when he was 16 months old, and losing his Dad, Walter Christopher Howery at the age of 4 years. He then became a foster child of Andrew Jackson and Cornelia Frances (Howery) Morrison. Cornelia was his Aunt. Harley's first Marriage was to Mable M. Wurtz, and together they had two children, they were, Helen Marie Howery (Diedel). and Walter Frank Howery. Mable, his first wife died very young, along with his son Walter, and Harley was a farmer with a Daughter to raise by himself, so Mable's younger sister Ruth Wurtz cared for Helen while Harley worked on his farm, as time went by, Harley fell in love with Ruth, and Ruth became his Second wife, and together they had Nine children. Four Son's, and Five Daughter's, They were, Alfred Eugene Howery, Louise Christine Howery (Jones), Letha Mae Howery (Manlove)-(Hendershot), Lela Fern Howery (Holloway)-(Heilman), Eldon Leroy Howery, Linda H.Howery (Hudson), David Harley Howery, Larry William Howery, and Lois Elaine Howery (Grose). Harley was the Kindest and most tenderhearted man I have ever known. He hated green beans, but he ate them anyway to set an example for his Ten Children. Harley was a Farmer in Lynn Co. Kansas and he moved his young Family of Eight Children to Tipton, Indiana in spring of 1947 to be a carpenter, and in later years he was a custodian for the Farmers Loan and Trust Co. of Tipton. He is still missed by his Family.
