The body of Mr. A.W. Belknap was brought in from Ennis on the train. Mr. Belknap was on his way to see his brother at San Antonio and was just passing through Ennis, so there is no idea of how the accident happened. The main wound was on the head, by which it is presumed he was knocked clear of the railroad track by a fast passenger train. Graveside services were held at the Seymour cemetery.

Mr. Belknap did not possess much of this world's goods, but he possessed a good character and enjoyed the esteem of his fellow man. He was a member of the Methodist Church.

Survived by his wife and several children.

He was somewhat deaf, and it is supposed he may have stepped off the track and was not aware of the coming train.
