Frances T Mock [1842-1870] (the daughter of Charles W Mock [1809-1880]), and Stephan Madler are the biological parents of Margaretta.
Here is her father's will:
I, Stephen Madler of Sonoma County, State of California, do on this second
day of June, on thousand eight hundred and seventy one, make and constitute
this my last will and testament namely first. I desire that all my personal
property, household and kitchen furniture, tools and farming utensils,
cattle, horses and poultry be sold at public sale, and from the proceeds
there of that my debts and funeral expenses be paid and that the balance
there of be equally divided among my four children namely: Anna Francis,
Clara Josephine, Lizzie Maria and Margaretta.
Secondly, Wesley Mock proposes to adopt Margaretta and I hereby offer my
assent to that proposition.
Thirdly it is my will that Lizzie live with Mrs. Wolf until she is of age
as by agreement to have such raising and schooling as if she were their own
child.
Fourthly I will that my executor find good Christian homes for Anna and
Clara.
Fifthly I do appoint Wesley Mock and Edward Mock Executor of this my last
will and testament and I desire that they shall also act as Guardians to the
children to manage and care for their minor interests and especially any
inheritance from my fathers estate in Lorraine. In testimony where of I have
here unto set my hand the day and year above written
