Gladys Miller Beegle, age 86, of 333 West King St. Chambersburg, Pa., died Sunday 10:07 a.m. May 9th. in Chambersburg, Hospital.
She was born December 8, 1917, daughter of the late Norman and Edith (Hammaker) Miller.
Employed as a secretary at Letterkenny Army Depot, she retired after 28 1/2 years. She had formerly worked at James River, Chambersburg, and G.C. Murphy Co. Bedford, Pa.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Alda Bower Sunday School Class; AARP Chapter 2287; National Association of Retired Federal Employees; VFW Post 1599 Auxiliary, and Moose Lodge 842 Auxiliary, all of Chambersburg, Pa.
She enjoyed playing cards, traveling and gardening. When the YMCA was built in Chambersburg, she collected the most individual pledges.
Surviving are her son, James Jay Beegle; two grandsons: Jeffrey J. and Stephen J. Beegle; all of Chambersburg; a great-grandson, Britton D. Beegle of Horse Valley, Pa., and her former daughter-in-law, Susan J. Lang of Fairfax, Va.; a sister, Helen Padgett, and a brother, Elwood Miller, both of Florida.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dahr W. Beegle; a son, Jerry Dean Beegle, and two sisters, Dorothy Berkhimer and Mary Ann Hartung.
