RUSHVILLE — Winona E. Evans, 84, of Rushville, died March 29, 2012 at her residence with her loved ones at her side.

She was born Oct. 25, 1927 in Decatur County to the late John C. and Anna Faye (Mahin) Smith. She graduated from Rushville High in 1945 and then Central Beauty College in 1945. She was a beauty operator over 60 years. She married Gerald L. Evans Oct. 23, 1948; he survives.

Winona was a Guardian of Bethel 92, a member of the International Order of Job's Daughter, Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 143, and was historian for the R.C.H.S. Alumni. She attended First Baptist Church over 50 years and was a Sunday school teacher about 40 years, as well deaconess and other offices.

Survivors include five children, Jane Ann Evans, John (Margo) Evans, Jeffrey (Cheryl) Evans, Joseph (Cathy) Evans and Jay (Kathy) Evans; six grandchildren, Kristin (Aaron) Charles, Ashley Evans, John Christopher Evans, Jillian (Blaine) Tebbe, Erica Evans, and Megan Evans; and three great-grandchildren, Addison Charles, Kooper Charles and Hunter Thrush.

She was preceded by two brothers.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church with Pastor Jay Noll officiating.

Burial will follow in Arlington East Hill Cemetery.

Friends may call 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Todd Funeral Centre & Crematory. There will be a Job's Daughters Memorial Service at 7 p.m.

Memorial offerings may be made to the Memorial Fund at First Baptist Church.
