Birth: Nov. 14, 1869
Death: Aug. 15, 1894

Ira Skinner, who was compelled to leave Purdue university in April because of failing health, departed this life last Wednesday evening after a lingering illness o five or six months duration, being 25 years 9 months and 1 day of age. He died of consumption. He came home from Purdue last April and was confined to his bed all the time. He was a young man of sterling worth and had a bright future before him. He was very popular in the community in which he lived and much regret is felt at his untimely death. The funeral services were conducted from his fatherís residence two miles west of Stockwell on Thursday last with interment at the Conroe cemetery, Rev. J. J. Claypool of the N. E. church officiating. The deceased was a member of the M. E. church and a model young man, and his loss in this community will be deeply mourned by every one who knew him. He was a kind, loyal and respected citizen, a true Christian, and the family have the sympathy of every one in this their sad hour of bereavement. (Found in the Stockwell items, Fri. August 17-24, 1894, of the Lafayette Journal)
