Sadie Belle Shortt Absher,89,of Pounding Mill,died March 14 following a lengthy illness. She was the daughter of Joe and Molly Shortt. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Absher; one daughter, Dorothy Absher; one son, Earl Junior Absher; two sisters, Dolly Whited and Della Wade; and two brothers, Roy and George Shortt. Survivors: daughters, Mrs. Marvin (Thelma) Cordill of Cedar Bluff, Mrs. Elmer (Ruby) Hylton of Claypool Hill, Mrs. Buford (Doris) Davis of Pounding Mill; sons and daughters-in-law, Troy and Pauline Absher of Cliffield, Hurley and Frankie Absher and Charlie Absher all of Pounding Mill, Darrell and Cora Absher of Tazewell; sister, Rosa Stilwell of Cedar Bluff; brother, Jay Shortt of Cedar Bluff; special daughters-in-law, Peggy and Connie Absher; special friends, Emile Rice and Edith Cordle; 15 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren.
