Sergeant 1th.Class Dave STEENSMA was born November 20th.1967 in HOLLAND-EUROPE.
Dave served first in the Royal DUTCH MARINE CORPS and later changed over to serve in the 12th.Infantry Battalion of the AIRMOBILE BRIGADE of the Regiment"van Heutsz".
Monday Evening May 10th.2004 Dave was as Platoonleader with 3 other Soldiers on Patrol near a Bridge over the"EUFRAAT" River when a handgrenade,throwd by an Iraqi killed Dave and wounded a 20 years old Corporal.
Dave was a very Proud and fanatic Soldier,happy that He could help the US FORCES to bring peace to the Iraqi people.
He was a very good Comrade.
Dave was married with Jenny STRIKWERDA and they raised 2 Children.
The City FRANEKER in the northern part of HOLLAND was their Hometown.
Dave was the First Dutch Soldier who died in Iraq.
The Funeral will take place with Militairy Honours on the Algemene Begraafplaats(Algemene Cemetery) in FRANEKER on Saturday May 15th.2004.
RUST IN VREDE DAVE. JE BENT NIET VERGETEN!
