Mrs. Betty Carpenter
PORT LAVACA--Mrs. Betty Jean Carpenter, 25, of Houston, former long-time resident of Port Lavaca, died Sunday in a Houston hospital after a brief illness.
She was born March 16, 1946 in El Campo.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Salem Lutheran Church in Port Lavaca, with the Rev. George Haynes officiating. Burial will be in Green Lawn Gardens under the direction of Richardson Funeral Home.
Survivors include her husband, George E. Carpenter; five sons, George E. Jr., Roy Herbert, Paul, John and Frank Daniel Carpenter, all of Houston; her mother, Mrs. Gladys L. Tucker McWhirter of Arcola, Tex.; four brothers, Virgil Simpson of Houston, Frankie Simpson of Port Lavaca, Oscar and William McWhirter, both of Arcola; three sisters; Mrs. Linda McIntire of Napoleonville, La., and Miss Myrtle and Kathy McWhirter, both of Arcola.
