her daughters, Mrs. F. A. King of Canoga Park, California and Mrs. Charles Simpson of Shenandoah, Iowa and her son and wife, Mrs. Walter O. Garrison of Pittsburg, Kansas and their daughter, Mrs. C. H. Bittner of Creston, all were here at the time of Mrs. Garrison’s death and for the funeral services.
Her body was removed to the Eno & Sutphen Funeral Chapel from where it was taken Sunday morning to the Garrison apartment where it remained until the funeral service, which was held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Arthur Mortensen, assisted by the Rev. L. B. Carpenter, in charge. The music was by a quartet composed for H. D Peckham, F. L. Means, J. H. Todd, and H. H. Nordyke, accompanied not the piano by Mrs. R. L. Maxey. The pall bearers were Paul Fisher, Clyde Means, Judd Means, F. Glen Carey, and Robert means, and burial was in the Villisca Cemetery.
Harriett C. Betterton, second of the ten children of Gardner and Emily Sutton Betterton, was born May 15, 1857 in Eldon, Iowa, and moved with parents to Knoxville, Iowa, in 1863. She was married March 31, 1880 to Omer Garrison to which union three children were born. Her husband preceded her in death. Mr. and mrs. Garrison and family moved to Villisca in 1891, with was their home the remainder of their lives.
Mrs. garrison is survived also by four sisters and brothers, who are O. J. Betterton and Mrs. Viola Woodl
e of Knoxville, Iowa, Mrs. F. M. Kerr of Springdale, Arkansas, and Ora Betterton of Libertyville, Iowa.
Mrs. Garrison united with the Presbyterian Church when a child and became a member of the Villisca Church, April 17. 1904.
Among those here to attend the funeral service were C. H. Bittner of Creston, Mrs. Woodle and Mrs. Norah Breese of Knoxville, Iowa, Grace Betterton of Libertyville, Mrs. E. G. Squire and sons, George and John and Mrs. John Thomason of Shenandoah.
