He was the son of Burley Payton Easter and Della Frances Whitaker Easter. -- He was married to Katy Louise Roebuck. They had one adopted daughter Stephanie and 2 grandchildren.

Joe was a lifelong resident of Aberdeen. He was a truck driver for 30 years and an employee of the city of Aberdeen Housing Authority for 16 years. He was a member of the First United Pentecostal Church since 1950 serving as a deacon, Sunday school superintendent, song leader and honorary board member.

Joe was special, he had his left arm cut off just below the shoulder from a sawmill accident when he was a young man. The only thing I ever saw that Joe couldn't do was wash is right arm. He even wore shoes with laces rather than loafers. He drove big semi trucks and changed gears, he built things and could pound a nail as straight as anyone. You really never realized he only had one arm watching him work.
