Charles E. Hendrickson, prominent
Jersey City attorney and resident of
Red Bank for the past 27 years,
dropped dead at his home on Wallace
street early Tuesday night.
Death was attributed to heart disease.
Mr. Hendrickson was apparently
In good health during the day. He
arrived at his office as usual In the
morning and after lunch attended a
baseball game. He arrived home
from the office shortly after 6:30
o'clock and had seated himself at
the dinner table when he was
stricken.
Mr. Hendrlckson was 65 years old.
He was born at Mount Holly December
21, 1872,and was the son of the
late Circuit Court Judge Charles E.
Hendrickson and Sarah Noxon Hendrickson.
Upon his graduation from
Princeton university he began the
study of law and upon passing the
bar examinations opened an office at
Jersey City.
In 1907 Mr. Hendrlckson was elected
to the state assembly on the Democratic
ticket and served one term.
In 1910 he became president of the
Hudson County Bar association. He
was elected first president of the
Kiwanis club of Jersey City in 1921
and was re-elected the following
year. For many years he was a member
of the New Jersey board of tax
assessors, formerly serving as president
of that body.
Mr. Hendrickson was a member of
the Red Bank lodge of Elks, Jersey
City lodge ot Masons, Jersey City
Kiwanis club and Hudson County
Bar association.
Surviving besides his wife, Mrs.
Janet Estes Hendrickson, are a son
Charles E. Hendrickson, Jr., of Newark,
and two daughters, Mrs. Robert
W. Ingils of Red Bank and Mrs.
James W. Forest of Salt Lake City.
The funeral will be held Friday
afternoon at 3 o'clock In the Red
Bank Methodist church, which he
served for many years as a member
of the official board. The pastor,
Rev. Herbert J. Smith, will officiate.
Burial In charge of R. R. Mount will
be in Fair View Cemetery.
