Mrs. Ruby Mae Chapman Baker, age 72 of Columbia, passed away Thursday March 15, 2012 surrounded by her loving family and husband of 56 years, Charles Baker.

Ruby was born January 31, 1940 to the late Elise and James Russell Chapman in Maury County. On June 16, 1956, she would take Charles' last name in marriage. Together they would share five children, and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren. Being a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and caretaker of the home was something she had taken great pride in. Charles reflected on the memory of his wife stating, "She took great care of us, and was a great homemaker." She loved to make sure if you showed up with an empty stomach, that you wouldn't leave until you was full. Ruby's church was the bible, attending several times during the day, as she would open it to study the Lord.

The family invites you to share your memories of Ruby on March 18, 2012 from 10:00 A.M. until the service time at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Wendell Allman officiating. They will then lay her to rest at the Rose Hill Cemetery. In Ruby's honor her grandsons will serve as pallbearers, carrying her to the final resting place.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children: Freda Jane (Gene) Bassham of Lawrenceburg, Clarence (Pat) Baker of Lynnville, Carlton (Charity) Baker of Columbia, Curtis (Lori) Baker of Columbia; her adored grandchildren: Tiffany (Clarence) Ford, Eric Baker, Marcus (Jeannie) Baker, Kanya Baker, Breanna Baker, CJ Baker, Brandon Baker, Ethan Baker, Sarah Baker, and Forrest Nolan; great grandchildren: Savanah Ford and Kaileigh Baker; siblings: James Chapman, Edith Allman, and Elsie Stewart. She is preceded in death by her son Charles "Chuck" Edward Baker, and her brother RC Chapman.
