Daniel Geary
May 22,1833-Nov 11,1916

Pilot 15 Nov 1916

After a brief illness, Daniel Geary died at his home west of Herman last Saturday. He was one of the old settlers. Mrs. Geary tells us that in those early days she and the children stayed on the homestead in the summer time while Mr. Geary worked in Calhoun. In the winter they all stayed in Calhoun and boarded with Mrs. John Tew.

Daniel Geary was born in Ridgemont, Bedfordshire, England, May 22, 1833. He married Eliza Bosworth, Dec. 25, 1852. Next Christmas, he and his wife would have lived together 64 years. He emigrated to Nebraska April 23, 1867, taking a homestead six miles northwest of Herman. He moved to his present home in March, 1884. He died November 11th, being 83 years, 5 months and 18 days old.

He leaves to mourn his death his wife and four children, Geo. Geary, of Inman, Neb., Mrs. Elizabeth Richards, of Beatrice, Nebr., and Carrie and Grace who make their home with their parents.

Mr. Geary united with the Baptist Church at Ridgemont, England, May 1856. He was one of the charter members of the New England Baptist Church. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. G. A. Smith at the New England Baptist Church Monday.
