Ruel Wade Alexander of Amarillo, died Monday, October 14, 2002 in Amarillo at the age of 77.
He was born on July 5, 1925 in the Buckcreek Community of Collingsworth County to Emory
Clyde Alexander and Ellen Matilda Branum Alexander. He married Gloria Yvonne Boyd on February 25, 1949. He died Monday, October 14, 2002 in Amarillo at the age of 77.
He graduated from Wellington H.S. in 1943 and then attended Amarillo College. He served in the US Navy on board the USS Sperry during World War II. He was managing partner of Canyon Drive Lumber Company from 1966-1989, a life member and past president of the Lumberman's Association of Texas, and had served on the board of directors of the National Lumber and Building Material Dealers Association from 1984-1987.
He was a member of the Amarillo Association of Credit Management from 1976-1980 and a former member and secretary-treasurer of the WTSU Cager Club from 1975-1980.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Jean Alexander Wade, and a grandson, James Darby Reid.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria Yvonne Alexander of Amarillo. Two daughters: Adelle Alexander Purcell of Stinett and Betty Anne Alexander Wright of Rolla, KS, a son: Mark Wade Alexander of Fitch, a brother: Fred Alexander, 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
