AKA Matthew Sands. Mathias enlisted for Civil War army service in company G, 103rd Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry, August 18, 1862 at Cleveland, Ohio, for a term of 3 years. Occupation: Moulder. He was mustered out with Company G at Raleigh, North Carolina, June 12, 1865 at the end of his term of service at the end of the war. Rank: Private. His name is on the Company G panel in the Cuyahoga County Soldiers' and Sailors' Monument, Public Square, Cleveland, Ohio as Matthew Sands.
